On January 12, 2026, a delegation from the Northern, Central, and Southern regions of Electricite du Laos (EDL) visited the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Bokeo Province for a field study. The delegation, led by Deputy Manager of the Northern Region Nyangsudawan Vongvilay, Deputy Manager of the Central Region Sangkham Thanivong, and Deputy Manager of the Southern Region Phouthong Luangsayyala, comprised over 40 members. They were warmly received and accompanied by Songsay Sousavat, Deputy Director of the Administrative Authority of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, and relevant department heads.
During the visit, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on core issues such as power management, power supply, and market sales within Dongpeng County and the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone. The delegation received a briefing on the zone's development in recent years and exchanged views on power infrastructure construction and security plans.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Golden Triangle International Border Crossing, the Kapok Star Hotel, the "Peaceful Golden Triangle" International Art Exhibition, and the "Golden Triangle Window" scenic area, conducting in-depth research on the current operational status of the special economic zone in terms of border crossing, cultural tourism, and public facilities.
The delegation members expressed their sincere appreciation for the rapid development and construction of the Special Economic Zone. Both sides stated that they will continue to optimize the power coordination mechanism to ensure efficient and stable energy supply, and jointly inject momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
