Overview of the Special Economic Zone
The Golden Triangle Economic Zone of Laos is located in Dunpeng County, Pocho Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the border of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, with a total area of approximately 100 square kilometers. The Special Economic Zone was established in 2010 and is a national level economic zone approved by the Laotian government.
Relying on the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the Special Zone gives full play to its regional advantages and is committed to building an important platform for economic and trade cooperation, tourism culture and investment development in Southeast Asia, which plays an important role in Laos' national economic development strategy.

On January 17, 2026, Mr. Liem Lek Sivilay, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Laos, led a delegation to Bokeo Province for an inspection and guidance visit to Bokeo International Airport during a survey of infrastructure construction. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen the airport's role in promoting local socio-economic development. Mr. Phophilong Phommalin, Deputy General Manager of Bokeo International Airport, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the airport's construction and operation status.
2026-01-20On October 17, 2025, the "Shared Love Project," initiated by three major mass organizations, together with the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone Administrative Authority and the Dongpeng County Government, held a donation event in Dongpeng County, Bokeo Province, to deliver deep care and practical assistance to local impoverished families and students.
2025-10-25On August 1, 2017, a charity donation event themed "Caring for Bokor, Developing Together" was held in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone of Laos, where materials were donated to students and residents of Nampha Village, Dong Phung District, Bokeo Province.
2017-08-01On August 1, 2016, the Lao Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone Management Committee, together with the Xishuangbanna Waterdrop Project charity team from China, jointly carried out a charity donation activity to a relatively underdeveloped village in Dongpeng County, Laos, providing local villagers with daily necessities and school supplies.
