On November 5, 2015, Hong Kong's Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone developer, Golden Triangle Group, donated 1.38 billion Thai Kip (approximately 1.1 million RMB or 6 million Thai Baht) to the Dongpeng County government for construction. The donation ceremony was held at the Dongpeng County government building.
Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Vice Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Chairman of the Lao-China Cooperation Committee, and Chairman of the Lao Special Economic Zone Management Committee; Mr. Khamphan Pheuiyavong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Bokeo Province; and Mr. Zhao Wei, Chairman of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone Management Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Golden Triangle Group. Mr. Chio Wai and other key leaders attended the donation ceremony.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat, on behalf of the Lao government, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong Golden Triangle Group for their generous donation. He urged the leaders of the Dongpeng County government to cherish the donated funds, strictly manage and utilize them, and prioritize infrastructure construction such as roads, to repay the selfless support of all sectors of society with tangible results. He also hoped that the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone and the local government could empower each other, work together, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win development.
Zhao Wei, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, delivered a speech, expressing his hope that the donation would provide practical assistance and support for infrastructure construction in Dongpeng County. He also hoped that under the overall leadership of the Lao central government and the Bokeo Provincial Government, the agricultural cooperation and development project between the Special Economic Zone and Dongpeng County could be implemented as soon as possible, helping the surrounding people to escape poverty and achieve prosperity, and promoting local livelihood improvement and economic development.
At the end of the ceremony, Bokeo Province Governor Kampan Peyawong delivered a speech on behalf of the provincial government and held an award ceremony: awarding the Special Contribution Medal to Zhao Wei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Golden Triangle Group, and presenting the Hong Kong Golden Triangle Group with a certificate and medal. The leaders and group representatives present at the event took a group photo, bringing the donation ceremony to a successful conclusion.
